Mr. Myles Joyce is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with extensive expertise in colorectal and general surgery. He practices at Bon Secours Hospital Galway and University College Hospital Galway.
Mr Joyce graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 1997, where he was awarded the Gold Medal in Surgery. He completed the Western Surgical SHO scheme and went on to earn an MD at Beaumont Hospital in 2000. After completing Higher Surgical Training in Ireland from 2001 to 2007, Mr Joyce pursued an Advanced Colorectal Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA, in 2007. He served as a Colorectal Surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic from 2008 to 2010 before returning to Ireland to take up his consultant post at University Hospital Galway.
Mr Joyce’s main areas of colorectal interest include colorectal cancer surgery, minimally invasive surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, ileal pouch surgery, complex gastrointestinal fistula surgery, and surgery for the restoration of intestinal continuity. His general surgical expertise covers gallbladder disease, hernia repair, haemorrhoidal surgery, fistula-in-ano, and he is proficient in both endoscopy and colonoscopy.
Mr Joyce has published over 60 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and has authored 10 book chapters covering topics such as colorectal surgery, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, rectal prolapse, and pelvic floor disorders.
