Founded by the Sisters of Bon Secours, our mission is to care for the sick, the dying, and their families within a Catholic ethos. Inspired by the Gospel and the healing mission of Jesus, we aim to provide high-quality, holistic care. Our approach is centred on compassion, respect, justice, and hope, recognising the dignity and uniqueness of each individual.
Our philosophy
The Bon Secours Health System continues the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, following the tradition of the Sisters of Bon Secours. Our work is focused on improving the health and well-being of the community, with a special commitment to caring for the sick and the dying. We provide this care with compassion, healing, and respect for human dignity, in line with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Continuing a legacy of care
As Ireland’s largest independent hospital group, Bon Secours Health System is known for its exceptional service and strong tradition of healthcare. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and our mission focuses on delivering world-class medical treatment with compassion. With more than 4,000 staff and 500 leading consultants, we care for over 400,000 patients each year.
We operate five modern acute hospitals in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Tralee and Limerick, as well as a care village in Cork. All our hospitals are accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), the leading authority in global healthcare accreditation, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Global connections
In 2019, Bon Secours Health System became affiliated with Bon Secours Mercy Health, a Catholic healthcare organisation in the United States. Bon Secours Mercy Health operates 47 hospitals, over 3,000 care providers and has over 60,000 employees.
Our Logo
Our logo, the fleur-de-lis, reflects the beginnings of the Sisters of Bon Secours in France. It also symbolises the cross reaching out to others, representing our commitment to caring for the sick. The logo serves as a reminder of our rich history and continued dedication to compassionate healthcare.
