On arrival at the hospital
Upon arriving, please report to Reception where you will be directed to the admissions office. A wheelchair is available upon request if you require one. You may need to wait briefly in the designated waiting area before proceeding with the admissions process. The admissions staff will assist you in completing any necessary documentation.
Day ward admissions
For patients admitted to specific day wards (e.g., Endoscopy, Angiography, and Oncology), arrangements will be tailored to your elective admission. You will be advised of these specific arrangements before your admission.
Paediatric admissions
We understand that hospital visits can be stressful, especially for children. Preparing your child in advance by engaging in playful activities, like pretending to be a doctor or nurse, can help reduce anxiety. Our staff are dedicated to ensuring your child’s stay is as comfortable as possible. Consider visiting the hospital before admission to familiarise your child with the environment.
For more information on preparing for a paediatric admission, including fasting instructions and what to bring, please see the preparing for your stay page.
Infection prevention
If you develop symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, or respiratory issues within 48 hours of your planned admission, please inform the admissions office immediately. Additionally, if you are a carrier of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (e.g., MRSA), please notify your consultant in advance, so that the hospital can take necessary precautions.
Insurance and financial considerations
Before your admission, contact your insurance provider to confirm coverage and understand any excess or shortfall on your policy. Depending on your policy, some insurers may require an excess payment upon arrival. This is a contract between you and your insurance provider, and the hospital is unable to intervene in these matters.
If your consultant recommends convalescence after your hospital stay, some insurers may cover the cost. Please organise this before your admission if needed.
