Mr Colin Murphy is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, practising at Galway University Hospital and Merlin Park Hospital, Galway since 2015. He specialises in hip and knee reconstructive surgery and trauma surgery. Mr Murphy completed a fellowship in hip and knee reconstruction at the Centre Orthopédique Santy in Lyon, France, followed by further fellowship training in trauma surgery at Addenbrooke’s Cambridge University Hospital, UK.
Mr Murphy's primary areas of expertise are in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery. As a highly skilled orthopaedic surgeon, he also specialises in trauma surgery. In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Murphy is the departmental lead for both the Irish National Orthopaedic Register and the Irish Hip Fracture Database, reflecting his leadership in orthopaedic care in Ireland.
Mr Murphy is extensively published, with ongoing research interests in hip pathology. He serves on international faculty for hip arthroplasty, trauma, and anatomical approach educational meetings, and is actively involved in higher surgical education in trauma and orthopaedic surgery in Ireland.
