With a special interests in management and awareness of Paediatric Anaphylaxis, Allergy Prevention and Allergen Immunotherapy.
Dr Ioana Maris graduated from University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Victor Babes" Timisoara, Romania in 1995. She completed a PhD in Paediatric Nephrology in 2009, focused on the epidemiology of renal disease in children, while working as a Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist in a Tertiary University Hospital.
Ioana moved to Ireland in 2011. in 2013, she was the recipient of a Fellowship Award from the National Children's Research Centre, Dublin, for the project "A Prospective Study of the Incidence of Anaphylaxis in Irish Children", and she completed her Medical Doctorte in UCC in 2017.
Ioana worked as a Consultant Paediatrician/Senior Lecturer in Cork University Hospital/UCC. She is an investigator in several Clinical Trials on Peanut Immunotherapy, and continues her academic assocation as a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, UCC.
The Paediatric Allergy Service in the Bon Secours Hospital Cork was established in 2017, and is the only private Paediatric Allergy Service in Ireland which provides complete diagnostic work up, including inpatient food and drug challenges.

To promote food allergy prevention
To minimise the risk of allergy through evidence based diagnostics and patient/family education
To improve the Quality of Life for children with allergies and their families
To provide health care professionals with allergy educational support

Allergy Diagnosis: Skin Prick Test, serum specific IgEs, food/drug challenges
Food allergy: Assessment, medical and dietetic intervention, education and management of anaphylaxis
Allergic rhinitis: Assessment and Sublingual Immunotherapy
Drug allergy: Assessment and Hospital based drug challenges
Atopic dermatitis: Assessment of associated allergic conditions
Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria: Assessment and management
