Mr Mohamed Taha
Consultant Urologist
The aim of the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) at Bon Secours Hospital Tralee is to promote prompt and timely access for patients to consultant-delivered assessments for patients referred by their GP. The service includes access to diagnostic testing where appropriate and allows patients to receive expert specialist review in a timely manner.
The Surgical Assessment Unit in Tralee is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Upon arrival, you will be registered by a member of our administration team.
You will then be assessed by a member of our nursing team who will record your vital signs and carry out an initial clinical assessment.
Following this assessment, a Non-Consultant Hospital Doctor (NCHD) will review your symptoms in conjunction with your consultant who will decide on the most appropriate investigations and treatment plan. Once any required scans are completed, your consultant will review your results, discuss the findings with you and determine whether you can be discharged or if you require admission.
Where clinically appropriate, diagnostic tests will be arranged on the same day.
