Dr Lavanya Saiva is a Consultant Cardiologist with specialised training in Heart failure and Cardiac Transplantation. Dr Saiva studied medicine in India and completed her specialist training in cardiology through the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI). She subsequently undertook a fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin.
She holds the European Diploma in Heart Failure and postgraduate diplomas in Preventive Cardiology and Health Professions Education from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). Dr Saiva is also a Fellow of the RCPI.
Since 2021, she has been based at Connolly Hospital, where she serves as Head of Integrated Cardiology at the Dublin Northwest Integrated Care Centre. Her clinical expertise includes Heart failure, Valvular Heart Disease, Preventive cardiology, and Interventional Transoesophageal Echocardiography. She leads the structural heart clinics and is Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory, overseeing training for both physiologists and NCHDs.
In collaboration with Dr Abirami Subramaniam, Consultant Respiratory Physician, Dr Saiva co-founded Ireland’s first joint cardiorespiratory clinic at the Dublin Northwest Integrated Care Centre. This innovative service has received national recognition, winning the CEO Choice Innovation Award at the HSE Spark Summit 2024 and the Best Outpatient Initiative at the Irish Healthcare Awards 2024.
Dr Saiva is an active contributor to the Global Cardiopulmonary Risk Consortium, working to advance integrated, patient-centred care on an international level.
