- Abnormal DRE regardless of PSA
- Elevated PSA
Following a referral from a GP via “Rapid Access Prostate Clinic” on Healthlink:
- A Consultant Urologist will review your referral and order investigations as appropriate.
- If indicated, blood tests and an MRI will be completed within 20 days of referral. MRI and bloods to be completed prior to first visit. MRI is covered by VHI, Irish Life Health and Laya, bloods included in RAPC fee.
- You will receive an appointment for the rapid access prostate clinic to meet with a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Consultant Urologist, with MRI and blood results.
- It will be indicated to you if you require further testing or monitoring at your RAPC appointment.
Follow-Up and Treatment Pathway
- If required, a prostate biopsy will be arranged. This procedure is covered under most private health insurance plans.
- Comprehensive care will be provided if you are diagnosed with prostate cancer, which may include:
- Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) review
- Surgical intervention
- Active surveillance
- Radiotherapy
- Oncology services
- Day Case procedures and treatment options, including diagnostics and biopsy, are fully covered under the majority of private health insurance plans.
A standard fee of €450 applies for the initial consultation with urologist/CNS and a follow up consultation with a Consultant Urologist if needed. MRIS/other testing covered with Health Insurance.
Following a referral from a GP via “Rapid Access Prostate Clinic” on HealthLink or letter to ‘Rapid Access Prostate Clinic, Bon Secours Hospital Cork’.
