We take pride in being the first private sector critical care unit for adult cardiothoracic surgical patients in Munster. We provide immediate post-operative critical care service to adult cardiothoracic surgical patients mainly for coronary artery bypass, valve surgery and video assisted thoracoscopic surgeries. Our specialised team ensures that patients receive expert, personalised care at all times.
Remote cardiac monitoring:
The CCU also oversees telemetry and remote cardiac monitoring services for inpatients across the hospital who require continuous cardiac monitoring.

Our CCU is managed by a team of highly qualified and skilled consultants, registrars, and NCHDs, ensuring top-quality critical care. A dedicated anaesthetic team works closely with the primary treating team to provide expert support.
Nursing excellence:
Our highly trained critical care nurses, with postgraduate specialisation, in critical care are the backbone of the unit. We promote continuous professional development working closely with our NEC through dedicated clinical facilitators and offer:
- Postgraduate diploma courses in Critical Care Nursing
- New graduate training and adaptation programs
- Clinical placements for student nurses

CCU incorporates its service with a team of expert professionals, including:
Pharmacists, Physiotherapists/Occupational therapists, Point of care service experts, hemovigilance and other laboratory service teams, Nutritionists, Speech and Language Therapists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Clinical engineers.
Additional support:
CCU services are supported by HCA, catering, and housekeeping teams.
Visiting hours:
Please note that CCU visiting hours differ from general inpatient hours.
Visiting times: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
We encourage family and loved ones to visit within these hours while ensuring patient privacy and recovery remain a priority.
Visitors are allowed in exceptional circumstances with prior permission from the CCU team.
