Acute Synovitis Clinic | Bon Secours Hospital Cork

The aim of this clinic is to provide rapid assessment, diagnosis and management for patients with a new diagnosis of acute inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis or psoriatic arthritis.

This clinic is run by Consultant Rheumatologists and Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Criteria

To attend this clinic patients should meet the following criteria:

  • 2-8 weeks of symptoms
  • 3 or more swollen joints
  • Positive squeeze test
  • 60 minutes early morning stiffness

Exclusions

This clinic is not suitable for patients with:

  • A previous diagnosis of inflammatory disease
  • Monoarthritis
  • A concern for septic arthritis

Fee

€450 inclusive of:

  • Initial assessment by Clinical Nurse Specialist and Consultant Rheumatologist
  • Rheumatoid Factor and Anti-CCP will be checked in the hospital
