Urology
Urology is a specialty of surgery that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the urinary tract and urogenital system.
The Consultant specialises in problems of the urinary tract and male reproductive system to include: Prostate Cancer, Erectile dysfunction, Bladder cancer, Overactive Bladder, Sexual Health, Benign prostate hyperplasia, Testicular cancer, Urinary Incontinence, Genito-urinary disorders, Prostatitis Bladder disease, Adrenal disorders, Penile cancer, Kidney and renal disorders, Penile reconstructive surgery.
The range of activity available at the hospital includes the management and treatment of conditions using the following surgical procedures: Cystoscopy, Epidiymal Cyst, Circumcision, Frenuloplasty.
Access to Service: Please note that a referral letter from a GP / Consultant will be required for each patient attending the consultant. Please send an e-referral by healthlink or post the referral to the relevant consultant.

Ms. Deirdre Fanning

Biography
Ms Fanning, originally from County Wexford, graduated with Honours from University College Dublin in 2004. Ms Fanning has completed both Basic Surgical Training and Higher Surgical Training Schemes in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Ms Fanning was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012.
Ms Fanning takes great pride in developing her knowledge and expertise with postgraduate qualifications including an MD from University College Dublin, a Masters in Medical Education from Queens University Belfast and a Diploma in Health Services Management from Westmoreland College, Dublin. Ms Fanning has received numerous awards and research grants for her work. Ms Fanning is a proud member of learned societies, such as the European Association of Urology, American Urology Association and the Irish Society of Urology.
Ms. Fanning joined the staff of Bon Secours Hospital Limerick at Barringtons in June 2015, and Bon Secours Hospital Tralee in November 2015.
Areas of Interest
Ms Fanning caters for all areas of adult general urology. This encompasses a wide range of conditions including for example Urinary Tract Infections, Urinary Incontinence, Kidney Stone Disease, Benign Prostate Disease, Superficial Bladder Cancer, Assessment for Prostate Cancer, Scrotal Swellings and Penile Abnormalities.
