The Medical Assessment Unit at Bon Secours Hospital Galway is open Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 4.00pm, except Bank Holidays.

Following a comprehensive medical assessment and health screening, the patient will be discharged home with a management plan or be admitted to the hospital for further treatment.

The capped fee for an MAU patient is €550.

All of the above charges include the assessment fee and cost of all necessary investigations. In the event of the patient being admitted, the patient will only have to pay a €120 assessment fee.

Should admission be required following assessment, patients are required to have an appropriate level of private health insurance or the ability to self-pay.  Normal insurance shortfalls will apply when a patient attending the MAU is admitted as a patient, and patients should check their insurance cover in this regard.
