Dr Zainab Barry is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, minimal access surgeon and Complex Menopause Specialist, with 13 years of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology. She currently works as a substantive HSE consultant at the Coombe Women and Infants Hospital in Dublin and the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise.
Dr Barry has specialist interests in minimal access surgery, fertility, endometriosis, and the management of complex menopause. She completed her foundational training in Pakistan and graduated from the University of the Punjab after which she moved to Ireland and completed her obstetrics and gynaecology training. She completed her special interest training in London in fertility, menopause and endometriosis in London culminating in fellowships in minimal access surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and infertility at Barts health NHS trust.
Her surgical expertise includes total laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic myomectomy, laparoscopic excision of endometriosis, ovarian cystectomy, hysteroscopic treatment of polyps and fibroids, and treatment of Asherman syndrome as well as surgery for vaginal prolapse.
Dr Barry is also a recognised specialist in complex menopause care. She is affiliated with the British Menopause Society (BMS) as a Complex Menopause Trainer and serves as the named BMS menopause specialist at the Coombe Hospital Dublin.
Dr Barry is a faculty member for BSGE courses and examinations and also serves as a trainer for the BMS Principles and Practice of Advanced Menopause Care module.
Zainab is married to Andrew, and they have two sons together.
