Mr Tony O'Connor is a Consultant Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgeon with extensive experience in both Ireland and abroad. A native of Galway, he graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) Medical School in 2000. He was appointed to the Irish Higher Surgical Training Programme in ENT Surgery in 2004 and received specialist training at teaching hospitals throughout Ireland. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ORL-HNS) in 2008.
Before his appointment as a Consultant ENT Surgeon at Bon Secours Hospital Galway, Mr O'Connor completed two years of international clinical fellowships in Perth, Australia. These included Paediatric Otolaryngology at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children and Head & Neck Cancer Surgery at Royal Perth Hospital. Additionally, he completed a clinical fellowship in Otology at Plymouth, England.
Mr O'Connor has published numerous peer-reviewed academic papers and has been recognised with several academic awards and distinctions. He holds a Masters in Surgery (MCh) for research conducted at NUIG. His current academic research interests focus on Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) and the role of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) in Head & Neck Cancers.
Mr O'Connor’s primary areas of clinical interest include paediatric otolaryngology, endoscopic sinus surgery, hearing loss, vertigo, and all aspects of adult general ENT surgery. He is dedicated to providing comprehensive ENT care to both adult and paediatric patients.
