About

Dr Shamindra Direkze is a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist. He graduated from the prestigious MB PhD programme at University College London in 2007 and went on to complete his specialist training in gastroenterology in the London deanery which has included experience in a number of advanced gastroenterology and liver centres including University College London Hospital, The Royal Free Hospital and Kings College Hospital Liver Unit.

Since moving to Ireland in 2017, he has held consultant posts at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospitals where he was a registered bowel screening colonoscopist and was a part of the inflammatory bowel disease team based there.  In 2024 he joined Bon Secours Hospital Dublin as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist and now works in full-time private practice. 

He has an interest in advanced endoscopic techniques which includes excision of large colonic polyps/lesions. He has number of publications and prizes from his post graduate training.

He is a keen cyclist and a keen hiker and has completed a number of treks throughout Europe and Asia. He has previously played rugby at county and university level.
