Mr Russell graduated from NUIG and completed Orthopaedic training in Ireland, receiving FRCSI in 2024.
Shane undertook subspecialty fellowships in arthroplasty and limb reconstruction in Cork, Toronto, and Glasgow, with expertise in personalised (patient-specific) and robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement, revision arthroplasty, prosthetic joint infection, periprosthetic fractures, and complex limb salvage. During his fellowship in Glasgow, he was appointed consultant and awarded FRCP&S Glasg.
Mr Russell holds a Masters in Surgery, a Diploma in Healthcare Management, and a Higher Diploma in Clinical Education, and has an active international research portfolio in joint replacement, prosthetic joint infection, and lower-limb reconstruction.
He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer with UCC and treats patients at Bon Secours Hospital Cork, Cork University Hospital, and South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital.
