Dr. Makki first came to Ireland in 2010 and subsequently commenced his Specialist Registrar (SPR) Training in July 2012. As part of his training, he rotated through several leading Irish hospitals, including University Hospital Galway, St. Vincent’s University Hospital, and St. James’s University Hospital.
Following completion of his core cardiology training, Dr. Makki undertook advanced Fellowships in Complex Coronary Interventions and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) at Manchester Royal Infirmary between 2017 and 2020. He later worked there as a Consultant Cardiologist until 2022.
In addition to his extensive experience in coronary and aortic valve interventions, Dr. Makki has special clinical interests in Heart Failure management and Cardiac Amyloidosis. He is also an active participant in Ireland’s National Primary PCI Service for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction.
Dr. Makki is a strong advocate for public awareness of heart disease and women’s heart health, having delivered multiple public talks on these topics since joining the medical community in Kerry.
His research portfolio includes several published projects in the fields of Heart Failure and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation, including:
