Dr Alan Marrinan is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with subspecialty fellowship training in Advanced Endoscopy and Hepatobiliary Medicine.
Dr Marrinan performs a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, upper and lower gastrointestinal polypectomy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). He is also experienced in biliary and enteral stent insertion, stricture dilatation, and the management of complex pancreatic and biliary conditions.
A native of West Clare, Dr Marrinan graduated from University College Cork in 2011 with a First Class Honours degree in Physiology before completing the Graduate Entry Medicine programme at the University of Limerick in 2015.
During specialist training, Dr Marrinan worked in several high-volume tertiary referral centres, including CUH, Beaumont Hospital, the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, and St Vincent’s University Hospital. He was awarded his Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2025.
Dr Marrinan subsequently completed an international fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy and Hepatobiliary Medicine at University College London Hospitals (UCLH). During this fellowship, he trained in complex ERCP and EUS procedures and worked alongside internationally recognised experts in the management of pancreatic and biliary diseases.
