On 27th July 2026, Bon Secours Hospital Tralee proudly launched a new in-house MRI and CT imaging service for patients.
Representing a €2 million investment in advanced diagnostic technology, the new service further strengthens the hospital's commitment to delivering exceptional patient care across Kerry and the surrounding regions.
By bringing MRI and CT imaging services in-house, Bon Secours Hospital Tralee can now provide faster access to diagnostic scans, enhance patient pathways and strengthen collaboration between GPs, specialist teams and radiology services. The investment also supports the continued expansion of advanced healthcare services available locally.
The hospital's new MRI scanner features cutting-edge AI-enhanced technology, including Deep Resolve and BioMatrix, delivering faster scan times, exceptional image quality and greater diagnostic confidence. Designed with both patient comfort and sustainability in mind, the scanner requires significantly less liquid helium than conventional MRI systems and incorporates energy-saving technology to reduce its environmental impact.
The new CT scanner has been selected to deliver an improved patient experience while maintaining outstanding diagnostic performance. Faster scan times, intelligent motion correction and advanced image reconstruction technology produce high-quality images, even when patients find it difficult to remain completely still. The scanner also incorporates advanced dose-reduction technology to minimise radiation exposure while maintaining excellent image quality.
