Bon Secours Health System is proud to become the first hospital group in Ireland to achieve the Investors in Diversity Gold accreditation, awarded by the Irish Centre for Diversity in June 2026.
This accreditation is the highest level of recognition within the Investors in Diversity framework. Awarded by the Irish Centre for Diversity and supported by Ibec, it acknowledges organisations that demonstrate excellence in transforming and embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace.
While Bon Secours Health System formally began its Investors in Diversity journey in 2019 and earned the first level of accreditation in 2021, the principles of EDI have long been embedded within the organisation's Mission and Values.
Guided by human dignity, integrity, compassion, stewardship and service, Bon Secours Health System is committed to creating an environment where staff, patients, and visitors are all treated with respect, feel welcome and are empowered to thrive.
Alan Sharp, Group CEO of Bon Secours Health System, said:
"Achieving Investors in Diversity Gold Accreditation is a significant milestone for Bon Secours Health System and reflects the commitment demonstrated throughout our organisation to fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and belonging.
Our Mission and Values guide everything we do. They influence how we care for patients, support one another and engage with our communities. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our people and the progress we have made together. We are proud of this achievement and recognise that inclusion is an ongoing journey, one where we remain committed to continuous improvement."
Bon Secours Health System has worked with the Irish Centre for Diversity (ICD) since 2019, focusing on strengthening the healthcare group’s continuous growth as an inclusive, values-based organisation.
The Investors in Diversity Gold award recognises the sustained progress of our EDI initiatives across all levels of the organisation. It follows a comprehensive assessment across five pillars of excellence: Diverse and Inclusive Leadership; Policies, Practices and Processes; Recruitment, Retention and Progression; Recording and Monitoring; and Impact on External Diversity.
While this accreditation marks an important milestone, Bon Secours Health System views it as part of an ongoing journey. By progressing our efforts to foster an inclusive workplace culture where people feel valued, respected and empowered to thrive, we can continue to deliver exceptional care to the patients and communities we serve.
