Prof. Peter McCarthy is a highly experienced Consultant Radiologist, with specialised expertise in prostate cancer, medical education, and imaging in psychiatric disorders. A graduate of University College Galway, Prof McCarthy has completed extensive postgraduate and fellowship training in Ireland, the UK, and the USA. His career includes prestigious consultant appointments and a focus on advanced radiological techniques across multiple medical fields.
Prof. McCarthy graduated from University College Galway in 1982. He completed his postgraduate training at Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Dublin from 1981 to 1985. His post-fellowship training took place at some of the most renowned medical institutions in London, including Hammersmith Hospital, the National Hospital for Neurology, and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, between 1985 and 1989.
Prof. McCarthy specialises in prostate cancer imaging, psychiatric disorder imaging, and medical education. His wide-ranging experience and advanced skills allow him to offer expert diagnostic imaging services in these complex areas, contributing significantly to patient care and medical education.
Prof. McCarthy has a keen research interest in prostate cancer, medical education, and the use of imaging in psychiatric disorders. His contributions to these fields have furthered the development of advanced imaging techniques and improved diagnostic accuracy.
