Ms Máire-Caitlín Casey

Biography

In 2024, Ms Máire-Caitlín Casey MB BCh BAO, FRCSI Plast, PhD, joined Bon Secours Hospital Galway as a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. She brings extensive expertise in breast reconstruction, skin cancer surgery, and cosmetic breast surgery, with specialised training from the prestigious Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

Ms Casey graduated with honours in Medicine (MB BCh BAO) from the National University of Ireland, Galway, in 2011. She completed her higher surgical training through the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and went on to undertake an international fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she gained expertise in breast, perineal, thoracic, and complex skin cancer reconstruction. Following her fellowship, she worked as a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Royal Marsden Hospital and further developed her skills in cosmetic breast and body surgery through roles in private practices including The London Clinic, King Edward VII Hospital, and the Harley Street Clinic.

Ms Casey also holds a PhD from the Lambe Institute for Translational Research, Galway, where she investigated innovative mechanisms for neoadjuvant chemotherapeutic response monitoring in breast cancer. Additionally, she has earned a Certificate in Healthcare Management and an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Education from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Her clinical interests include breast reconstruction, skin cancer management and reconstruction, and breast and body aesthetic surgery.

Ms Casey is a fully accredited specialist plastic surgeon registered with the Irish Medical Council and the General Medical Council. She is a member of the Irish Association of Plastic Surgeons (IAPS) and the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).
