Professor Jack Kelly is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Galway Clinic and Bon Secours Hospital, Galway. He is also an Honorary Professor of Plastic Surgery at the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG). Prof. Kelly is a fully accredited specialist plastic surgeon, registered with the Irish Medical Council and on the Specialist Register in Plastic Surgery. In addition, he serves as an examiner for the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons.
Prof. Kelly has received extensive training in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery across prestigious institutions in Dublin, Cork, Aylesbury, Boston, Texas, and Melbourne. He has also completed international fellowships in burns, hand surgery, and microsurgery, further enhancing his expertise. He is a member of several prominent professional organisations, including the Irish Association of Plastic Surgeons (IAPS), the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).
Prof. Kelly specialises in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. He has a particular interest in the early diagnosis and treatment of melanoma, providing services such as Total Body Photography and Digital Dermoscopy to track pigmented lesions, as well as comprehensive melanoma treatment including diagnostic biopsy, flap reconstruction, sentinel node biopsy, and metastatic node surgery. His clinical work also spans all aspects of plastic surgery, from aesthetic procedures to complex reconstructive surgeries.
Prof. Kelly has a strong interest in research, particularly in Tissue Engineering. He collaborates with the National Centre for Bioengineering Science (NCBES) in Galway on innovative projects in plastic surgery. He also maintains research links with CURAM and the Departments of Anatomy, Psychology, and Social Science at NUI Galway.
Prof. Kelly holds several leadership roles, including former Secretary of The Irish Association of Plastic Surgeons and former Clinical Director and Chairman of the Medical Board at Galway University Hospital. He is also an Honorary Associate Professor of Surgery at NUI Galway.
