What our patients told us: 2025 patient experience results from Bon Secours Health System
Patient experience is a key part of healthcare quality, alongside clinical outcomes and patient safety. Listening to patients and families helps us continually improve our services while recognising the many moments of care that make a difference every day.
In 2025, over 26,000 patients shared feedback on their care across the Bon Secours Health System. Patients are invited to take part in our patient experience survey approximately two weeks after discharge, giving them time to reflect on their full hospital experience.
Patient comments and stories provide valuable insight into what matters most to people receiving care: clear communication, feeling safe, and being treated with respect and understanding.
A strong measure of patient trust
One of the most widely used international indicators of patient satisfaction is the Net Promoter Score, based on the question:
“On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely is it that you would recommend us to your friends or colleagues?”
In 2025, Bon Secours Health System achieved an overall Net Promoter Score of 86, placing the health system in the exceptional category when benchmarked internationally. This reflects a very high level of patient trust and confidence in the care provided across our hospitals in Ireland.
