Overview

Vascular surgery is the management of arteries, veins and lymphatic circulation, through therapy, gentle procedures, and reconstruction. We provide safe, effective, minimally-invasive treatment with a focus on cosmetic outcome for our patients. We also offer cutting-edge advanced procedures for varicose veins with a new dedicated Vascular Lab in Dublin which carries out high-spec imaging and recordings.

Vascular Lab Procedures

Number of results: 12

  • Ankle-brachial index testing (ABI) toe pressure index (TPI)

ABI is a non - invasive diagnostic study which involves measuring blood pressures in the arms legs and toes, we use this information to assess for peripheral arterial disease in patients with claudication, rest pain, ulcers and gangrene.

    • Dublin
  • Peripheral arterial duplex

If the ABI indicates moderate/severe disease we can use Ultrasound to provide detailed imaging to locate and quantify areas of narrowing or blockage in the lower limb arteries.

    • Dublin
  • Upper limb arterial pressures

This is a non - invasive diagnostic study used to evaluate perfusion to the upper limbs, blood pressures are measured in the arms and fingers to assess for disease and vascular abnormalities.

    • Dublin
  • Lower limb deep venous duplex

This is an ultrasound scan to assess the patency of the deep veins and check for deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Duplex ultrasound is the gold standard method for the detection and follow up of DVT.

    • Dublin
  • Abdominal aortic duplex

The abdominal aorta is the largest artery in the abdominal cavity. We use ultrasound to scan the aorta to detect the presence or absence of an aneurysm (dilatation of the artery) also known as an AAA. Once diagnosed the AAA can be monitored regularly or surgically repaired if necessary.

    • Dublin
  • Post operative graft and Angioplasty / stents surveillance

Following vascular graft bypass or angioplasty/stents surgery we can check at regular intervals to see if there is narrowing or blockages. This aids in early intervention in case of a problem and results in good long term outcomes.

    • Dublin
  • Exercise testing

This test is carried out if the ABI is normal at rest and the patient experiences leg pain on exercise, a normal or abnormal ABI post exercise is an excellent indicator for the presence or absence of arterial disease.

    • Dublin
  • Carotid and vertebral artery duplex

We use Doppler ultr asound to provide detailed imaging of the carotid arteries in your neck and check for any narrowing or blockages which can cause stroke.

    • Dublin
  • Upper limb arterial duplex

If the upper limb pressures are abnormal or results not conclusive it may be necessary to carry out a more det ailed ultrasound to assess the upper limb arteries.
