We are proud to provide holistic support through a dedicated team of accredited HealthcareChaplains. These teams offer a compassionate presence to patients, families, and staff, respecting all traditions and cultures. They play a crucial role in the multidisciplinary care approach, providing services such as attentive presence and a listening ear, emotional and cultural support for patients and families, spiritual support during critical diagnoses or terminal illnesses, Eucharistic Adoration, and spiritual needs assessment. Sacramental services include the distribution of Holy Communion and the Sacrament of the Sick and Reconciliation. Services are available seven days a week, ensuring a confidential and supportive environment. Each hospital has a chapel offering a sacred space for reflection and solace, open to everyone for personal prayer and reflection.
Tralee opening hours: 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on weekdays; 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at weekends and public holidays.

Referral and appointments
A Catholic priest can be requested for sacraments by contacting the Healthcare Chaplain on duty. For night-time requests, inform the Night Sister or ADON to arrange a priest.
The Pastoral Care team visits patients and responds to referrals from patients, families, or staff.Specific referrals are given when a patient’s condition worsens, if someone displays anxiety or stress, expresses fear or uncertainty, a family member becomes anxious, attentive presence is needed, or when someone is dying or has died.
