Overview
The Occupational Therapy (OT) service at Bon Secours Health System helps individuals with physical and/or psychosocial difficulties that limit their independence in everyday activities. OT supports patients facing illness, injury, disability, or challenging life events, enabling them to participate in daily life through activity or environmental modifications.
Occupational therapists work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess functional abilities and plan discharges. Both inpatients and outpatients are treated, with consideration given to the physical effects of ageing, injury, or disease.

Referrals and appointments
Referrals from a GP or consultant should be sent via Healthlink.
Arranging Appointments:
- Referrals can be made by GP/Consultant, and self-referrals are also accepted.
- Outpatient appointments for splinting are scheduled in advance by the consultant’s secretary.
- Inpatient referrals are requested using a green occupational therapy referral card, available on each ward.

The Occupational Therapy Department is located on the ground floor corridor leading to the dining room.
Arranging Appointments:
- No referral is required to consult an Occupational Therapist, except for Geriatric Cognitive Assessment Appointments.
- We aim to offer an appointment within 48 hours.
