Dr Yvonne Smyth is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist with specialised expertise in cardiovascular imaging and heart failure. A graduate of NUI Galway, she has completed extensive training both in Ireland and the USA. Dr Smyth is enrolled in the specialist division of the medical register for both Cardiology and General Internal Medicine, and she brings her expertise to her roles at Bon Secours Hospital and University College Hospital Galway (UCHG).
Dr Smyth graduated from NUI Galway in 1997. She completed her internship and General Professional Training at University College Hospital Galway. She further developed her expertise through training at Beaumont, Adelaide and Meath, and Cork University Hospitals. Dr Smyth returned to Galway to complete the Cardiology Specialist Registrar training program and was registered in the specialist division of the medical register in 2007. She later undertook a subspecialty fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in the USA.
Dr Smyth’s clinical expertise is centred on cardiovascular imaging and heart failure. She has a wealth of experience in diagnosing and managing complex cardiac conditions, providing advanced care for patients with heart failure and cardiovascular disorders. Dr Smyth also contributes her expertise as a reviewer for the journal Heart and is actively involved in clinical education as an ACLS instructor.
Dr Smyth is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) and holds a Master's in Healthcare Management. Her commitment to patient care and medical education is demonstrated through her leadership roles and active involvement in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) training.
