Vladimir Stoyanov was awarded Doctor in Medicine and Surgery at the Medical University of Sofia in 1999. He achieved the degree of Specialist in Nephrology in 2008 at UAM, Spain, under the leadership of Prof. A. Ortiz, Dr C. Caramelo, and Prof. J. Egido. As a personal interest in Interventional Nephrology, he undertook a separate year of training in Interventional Radiology, Peritoneal Dialysis Surgery, and Vascular Ultrasound Training across several University Hospitals in Spain. After his Nephrology training, he completed Master of Medical Science programs in Hemodialysis, Cardiorenal syndrome, Atherothrombotic disease, and Hereditary renal disorders.
Dr Stoyanov held appointments as a Consultant Nephrologist in Spain since 2008, Associate Professor at the University “Alfonso X El Sabio” (2016-19), trainer in Vascular Access Ultrasound at Fresenius Medical Care (2018-19), and Vascular Access Management Program Director at “Hospital Universitario del Tajo” (2013-19). He is a reviewer for the Journal “Nefrologia” (Elsevier) and a co-founding member of the GEMAV Society.
His experience in Ireland as a Nephrologist and General Medicine Physician goes through Beaumont Hospital (2019-21), Cavan General Hospital (2021-22), St. Vincent’s University Hospital (2022-present), Beacon Hospital, and Bon Secours Hospital Dublin (2024 - present). He has been an Assistant Professor at UCD since 2023.
