Dr Michael O'Leary is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a specialisation in Gynae-Oncology. He graduated with honours from University College Dublin (UCD) in 1998 and has extensive training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, both in Ireland and internationally. Dr O'Leary underwent a Fellowship in Gynae-Oncology in Australia and New Zealand from 2005 to 2007 and holds a Diploma in Gynae-Oncology from the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He is a leading expert in colposcopy and women’s cancers.
Dr O'Leary has a particular interest in laparoscopic surgery and the management of women’s cancers. As the leading colposcopist for CervicalCheck in Galway, he plays a key role in the early detection and treatment of cervical cancer. His expertise in Gynae-Oncology ensures that women receive the highest level of care for both benign and malignant conditions.
Dr O'Leary is actively involved in various professional bodies and committees. He is a member of the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland. He serves on the executive committee of the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and is also a member of the interview committee for basic and higher specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Ireland with the Royal College of Physicians. In addition, Dr O'Leary is the national clinical advisor for women’s cancers to the National Cancer Control Programme.
Dr O'Leary graduated with honours from UCD in 1998 and completed his training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Dublin and Galway. He pursued further specialised training with a Fellowship in Gynae-Oncology in Australia and New Zealand, completing this fellowship in 2007.
