Dr Kathleen Cronin is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine with extensive experience in managing patients with life-limiting diseases. She attended the National University of Ireland, Galway for medical school and completed her specialist training in Palliative Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians, Ireland. Dr Cronin has worked in various esteemed institutions, including St. Vincent’s Hospital, St Luke’s Hospital, Galway University Hospital, Milford Hospice, Marymount Hospice, and Our Lady’s Hospice Dublin. She has been a Consultant for over three years and has worked as a Locum Consultant in the Midlands, Mayo, and Galway.
Dr Cronin specialises in Palliative Medicine, focusing on helping patients with life-limiting diseases live as actively and comfortably as possible. She is highly skilled in the assessment and treatment of pain and other symptoms, aiming to improve the quality of life for her patients. She works closely with Community Palliative Care Home Teams and oncology colleagues to provide comprehensive, patient-centred care.
Dr Cronin has a strong interest in clinical education. She is currently a clinical tutor for the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) at the Portiuncula Academy in Ballinasloe, where she helps train the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Dr Cronin is deeply committed to working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including Community Palliative Care and oncology departments, ensuring that patients receive holistic and coordinated care. She actively participates in clinical education and supports the professional development of healthcare students and staff.
