Bon Secours Health System has been recognised as the highest-ranked healthcare organisation in the Ireland Sustainability Reputation Index 2025, placing third overall out of 100 organisations examined in this year’s study.
The Index, now in its fourteenth year, is carried out by The Reputations Agency. The 2025 study gathered the views of 5,500 members of the informed public and assessed organisations across four pillars of sustainability: Environmental Impact, Social Performance, Workplace, and Conduct. These pillars reflect the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Recognition of ongoing sustainability work across our health system
This year’s results highlight the progress being made across Bon Secours Health System to embed sustainability into how care is delivered, from operational practices to major capital projects.
A key example is the newly opened Bon Secours Hospital Limerick, which was designed with sustainability at the centre of its development, including enhanced energy efficiency measures and features that contribute to a reduced carbon footprint, while also supporting long-term patient needs.
Alan Sharp, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bon Secours Health System, said:
“We are proud to be recognised as the highest-ranked healthcare organisation in this year’s Sustainability Reputation Index. This is a strong endorsement of the work underway to embed sustainability across our health system, from everyday operations to major developments such as our newly opened Limerick hospital, designed with energy efficiency, a reduced carbon footprint and future patient needs at its core. We will continue to build on this progress in the years ahead.”
Continued commitment
