This years annual in-person GP Study Day took place once again at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry, Dublin 9, on the 20th of September. This event is highly anticipated by our consultant and medical colleagues and is a staple in the educational calendar for GPs. The theme again for this years meeting was "Chronic Disease Management and Other Topics in GP Land," aptly reflecting the relevance of the subjects covered for GPs in their practices. The agenda was developed in collaboration with GPs to ensure it meets their needs in daily practice while also providing insights into future developments and opportunities to enhance their clinical expertise.

Over 150 GPs attended the event, which featured presentations and roundtable discussions with 15 consultants, as well as our dietetic and diabetic nursing team colleagues. The special guest this year was Dr Paul O Donovan, who recently graduated from medical school in Cork and is the much acclaimed Olympic gold medallist in rowing. Paul had a ‘fireside chat’ with Prof Ray Walley (Chairman on the day) and they discussed his Personal Journey, Challenges and Successes, Teamwork and Collaboration, Insights and Lessons Learned and his Vision and Future Goals which included his aspiration to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon and of course to work in Bon Secours Hospital Dublin!.
