A GP Education Night was held in the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee on Monday 27th November 2017. The theme of the night was ‘Preparing to Operate’. Six Consultants spoke on the night including Consultant General Surgeons Mr Zafar Iqbal, Mr Nasir Ahmed and Mr Muhammed Mushtaque. Mr Iqbal spoke about minor ops while Mr Ahmed spoke about anorectal conditions and Mr Mustaque about laparascopic inguinal hernia. Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, Mr Ross Kingston and Ms Eimear Conroy also spoke on the night. Mr Kingston discussed the latest shoulder techniques to benefit patients while Ms Eimear Conroy spoke about navigated knee surgery. Consultant Anaesthetist Dr Liam Lynch spoke about safety in Anaesthesia. The demonstrations took place in the operating theatre to showcase the hospital facilities to the General Practitioners. There was a great turn out with positive feedback from the GPs.
