Role of Quality & Patient Safety Champion
A Quality & Patient Safety Champion is assigned to departments and patient care areas in the hospital. The Quality & Patient Safety Champion will be responsible for understanding and promoting awareness of the Hospital’s quality goals and how they apply in their areas of work.
What is the idea behind this initiative?
Communicating information about patient safety is an important responsibility that should not always fall to managers alone. It is often beneficial for staff members to have another colleague fill this role as they may feel more comfortable about sharing information and asking questions. Having a Quality & Patient Safety Champion helps to increase safety awareness among front-line staff and foster a culture of safety.
