The official opening of the expanded Kerry Clinic and state of the art Operating Theatre & Recovery Suite took place on Monday 18th June in the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee.
The Kerry Clinic recently saw a €2.4 million extension which includes eight additional suites with eighteen new Consultant Rooms. This development provides the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee with significant additional capacity to service growing patient needs as well as improving the physical environment and experience for patients and staff.
€5.3 million has been invested in the development of two new world class Operating Theatres and associated state-of-the-art Recovery Suite. The Bon Secours Hospital Tralee now has a total of four ultra-clean ventilation theatres, one of these being a laser compliant theatre for Urology and Vascular services
“Having the new Theatres has increased our throughput of patients and has enabled us to enhance our service provision. Since the Theatre & Recovery Suite opened last year, the hospital has introduced eight new Consultants with specialties including Orthopaedics, ENT, General and Vascular Surgery” said Mary Kearney, Assistant Direct of Nursing Surgical Services.
"The new layout has improved the patient’s journey through the Operating Department as it facilitates a separate entrance and exit, thereby preserving patient confidentiality and dignity at all times. The Recovery Suite also has a dedicated area for children, allowing parents to be with their children during their post op recovery, which reduces stress and anxiety for both the parent and child"
