Providing Wound Care Assessment and Management
Overview
The Wound Care Clinic in the Bon Secours Hospital Dublin is a Tissue Viability (CNS) nurse led service. The clinic operates from 9am - 4pm every Monday and Thursday and is conveniently located on the ground floor of the hospital. The service is by appointment only and referrals are welcome from the community, from within the hospital and directly from patients.
Suitable patients include the following:
- Arterial ulcers (patient must be under vascular consultant)
- Burns (second degree)
- Diabetic foot ulcer (patient must be under vascular consultant and/or podiatry)
- Incontinence associated dermatitis
- Inflammatory wounds
- Pressure ulcers (all stages)
- Skin tears
- Surgical wounds
- Traumatic wounds
- Venous ulcers
Additional service
- Education for patients who wish to manage their own wound
