Pastoral Care

“Go bringing a special tenderness, patience and compassion.”

 J. Potel (Foundress of the Bon Secours)

When we walk with each other in love we bring healing to each others' spirits.

Welcome to the Chaplaincy / Pastoral Care Department

We are here to journey with and support all who enter the Hospital offering spiritual and emotional support.

Meet our Team :

Fr. Jack Twomey O.F.M.,Cap,

Liz Counihan, Sinead Fleming, Margaret O'Keeffe RSM.

Monica O’Donoghue, Director of Pastoral Care.

As members of the Chaplaincy/Pastoral Care Team we are part of the multi-disciplinary team in the Hospital.

As Healthcare Chaplains we are trained professionally in Chaplaincy.

Our Church of Ireland Chaplains visit on a regular basis.

There is "on call" availability.

The relationship with the person is the essence of our ministry and at all times we honour that. As Chaplains we acknowledge each person's journey is unique to them.

It is our desire to ensure that cultural and religious differences are acknowledged, respected and provided for within the Hospital.  Ministers of other Faith Traditions are welcomed and facilitated. Chaplaincy/ Pastoral Care is for all Faiths and none.

Our ministry is offered but not imposed.

What do we offer as a team?

Sickness brings up lots of issues for patients and their loved ones.

We offer people time and space where they can talk freely and where they can tell their story without being judged in a safe environment. Confidentiality and trust are central to this relationship. We also recognise and respect the uniqueness of each person and his/her needs within the dynamic of their family.

Through our liturgies, we strive to create an atmosphere where people will be open to the possibility of being touched by their God. We encourage participation in our daily liturgies and in special liturgical events.  All are welcome to join us.

Hospital Chapel

The Hospital Chapel is a focal point and is open to all. Our Chapel offers a sacred space of  comfort, solace and healing to each and every person.

Religious Services:

As a Hospital community we celebrate the Eucharist daily at 11.00am.

Holy Communion is distributed to all wards on Sundays and on request every other day.

All services in the Chapel are relayed through our Television network.

During the day reflective music is also played on the channel.

Mass daily 11.00 a.m.

The Chaplain on call can be contacted through the reception desk 1600.

Together we can do great things as we strive to continue to give all who enter this Hospital the care, love and compassion which characterize the spirit of Bon Secours.

We can be contacted at Extension 1618 and 1617 or through our bleep number from the main Reception.

Our office is next to the Chapel.
