Dr. Aoife J. McCarthy MB BCh BAO BMed Sci FRCPath CHAT graduated from the School of Medicine in University College Cork, and then completed Basic Specialty Training and Higher Specialty Training in Histopathology in Munster and South Dublin, under the auspices of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. This included a visiting Research Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Washington.
Dr. McCarthy then undertook a 2-year Clinical and Molecular Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Pathology at University Health Network and University of Toronto, in Canada, which additionally encompassed Gynaecological, Genitourinary and Breast Pathology.
Dr. McCarthy is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, United Kingdom, and a member of United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, Canadian Association of Pathologists, The Pathological Society of Great Britain & Ireland and British Division of the International Academy of Pathology.
