H.pylori Test

What is H.pylori?

H.pylori is a bacterium that conceals itself in the lining of the stomach and may cause peptic ulcers.

Testing for H.pylori

Testing for H.pylori involves the collection of a stool sample which is sent to our lab in the Bon Secours Hospital Dublin to test for the presence of the specific bacteria.

Cost of the test

The cost of the test is €100 which must be prepaid in advance.

What you will need to avail of the H.pylori test?

You will need a referral letter for a H.pylori test from your GP or Consultant.

Once you register on-line, attach a copy of the referral from your GP / Consultant and pay for the test. Once the payment has been received, you will receive a sample collection pack to your registered address.  Included in the pack are detailed instructions as to how to take a sample.  It is important to follow these instructions  carefully and to use the sterile container that has been provided.  Once the sample has been taken it should be refrigerated until you return it to the Bon Secours Hospital Dublin preferably within 12 hours of having been taken, but no more than 48 hours after.
