The Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging  Department provides a complete digital diagnostic imaging service to inpatients and outpatients with a referral from their GP or Consultant. The department includes 5 Consultant Radiologists, 10 dynamic and experienced radiographers supported by a dedicated care assistant and administration team.

The Radiologist team has a variety of sub specialisation interests to ensure the breath and depth of the services that the department provides supporting both the specialist departments within the hospital and also those of the GP community. In particular their specialism includes:

  • Cardiac Imaging
  • Vascular Imaging
  • Musculoskeletal Imaging
  • Neuro-Radiology Imaging
  • Gastro-Intestinal Imaging
  • Genito-Urinary Imaging
  • Breast MR Imaging
  • Bone Densitometry
  • General Imaging

The Department has a complete range of state of the art diagnostic equipment which has benefited from significant investment in recent years. Combining the most advanced technology and equipment with leading radiology expertise, the department provides the optimum patient experience and world class reporting with radiologists permanently on-site to review scan results.

In 2019, the department installed a new MRI machine with high density coils, significantly improving the quality of the imaging. It is a wide bore magnet to scan patients who might be over weight and enable shorter scan times to improve the experience for claustrophobic patients. The scanner facilitates feet first scanning, which greatly improves patient comfort, alleviating anxieties and stressors relating to claustrophobia which can present difficulty for certain patients.
