Vascular Surgery

Vascular Surgery is a specialty of surgery for treatment of diseases of the vascular system such as varicose vein treatment, sclerotherapy, endovenous laser treatment

Varicose veins are a common condition, affecting up to 3 in every 10 adults. Women tend to be more affected than men. Any vein in the body can become varicose, but they most commonly develop in the legs and feet, particularly in the calves. This is because standing and walking puts extra pressure on the veins in the lower body.

For most people, varicose veins do not present a serious health problem. They may have an unpleasant appearance, but should not affect circulation or cause long-term health problems.

If your varicose veins are causing you pain or discomfort or they cause complications you should attend your GP for referral.

Surgery at Bon Secours Hospital Limerick is performed by experienced consultants within their field of expertise, so you can be confident that you are receiving the highest level of surgical care. The hospital offers a wide range of surgery options to meet your needs.
