Consultant Interventional Cardiologist & Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse in the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee attended a meeting of the RÍocht Probus Group

Dr Makki, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist in the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee (BSHT) and Marie Flynn, Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse in the BSHT attended a meeting of the RÍocht Probus Group on Wednesday the 23rd of November in the Meadowlands Hotel Tralee.

Dr Makki and Marie spoke with the RÍocht Probus Group on how to maintain a healthy heart and how to build healthy heart habits.  They also highlighted the importance of being physically active.  

Dr Makki and Marie discussed the management of common symptoms such as heart palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue, chest discomfort and dizziness. Dr Makki and Marie also discussed Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and Heart Failure with the RÍocht Probus Group.

Dr Makki and Marie’s presentation concluded with a Q & A session which was very interactive with plenty of discussion around what our blood pressure and cholesterol numbers should be. Dr Makki and Marie were delighted to answer the Group’s questions around the surgical options available for treating heart valve disease and the complications that can arise in treating discussed Atrial Fibrillation (AF).
