At the BSHT, our 2 on-site Consultant Radiologists work closely with our highly qualified and experienced Radiographers to ensure that our patients receive the best care and top quality imaging and reporting.
We pride ourselves in delivering a quick turnaround of results for our patients. 90% of patients who attend the BSHT for an examination will have their results back to their GP within 24 hours.

At the BSHT, we deliver a FibroScan liver examination service. FibroScan is a special ultrasound technology that measures liver stiffness (hardness) and fatty changes in your liver. Patients who would benefit from such a scan include patients with fatty liver, chronic liver problems, diabetic patients, inherited liver diseases, alcohol excess and deranged liver enzymes, regardless of their age. These images will be reported by Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, Dr Hisham Sherfi.
A GP referral is required to access our Radiology services at the BSHT.
The Department is open from 8am until 5pm Monday to Friday (with an on-call service for in-patients outside of those hours).

Dr Thomas Greaney is a Consultant Radiologist at the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee.
Graduated from NUI Galway 1990 and completed MRCPI in 1993. Trained in Radiology at St. Vincent’s University Hospital from 1993 to 1997 and completed FFR(RCSI) and FRCR in 1996 and 1997 respectively. Post-fellowship training At McMaster University Medical Centre and Henderson Hospital, Ontario and at Addenbrookes and Papworth Hospitals, Cambridge, 1997 – 1999.
Consultant Radiologist at Kerry General Hospital (1999 – 2013) and at Bon Secours Hospital, Tralee (1999 - ).
Dr Greaney has participated in numerous publications and presentations, which includes presenting at the Scientific Exhibit at the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna.
Dr Ciaran Healy is a Consultant Radiologist at the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee. Dr Healy graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2001. Following graduation, Dr Healy carried out his Specialist training in Ireland and in Canada, completing training schemes at Beaumont Hospital Dublin, The Mater Hospital Dublin, St Paul’s Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver. Dr Healy is the author of 18 peer-reviewed publications, and has presented at many national and international conferences. Dr Healy is a member of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE), the European Society of Radiolgy (ESR), the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery, the Radiology Society of North America (RSNA), the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Society of Cardiac CT. Dr. Healy joined the Specialist Registry of the Irish Medical Council in 2015.
Dr Healy has a specialist interest in all aspects of radiology. Dr Healy is vastly experienced in body imaging, chest and abdominal imaging and body intervention.
