Nursing

The Nursing Department at Bon Secours Hospital Tralee  has over 220 highly skilled nurses and trained care assistants who deliver quality care to our patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The Director of Nursing, Siobhain Dowling, provides and directs strategic and clinical leadership for nursing and related services. The team of Nurse Managers handle nursing services within clinical areas providing 24 hours clinical support, 7 days a week.  Our focus in the Nursing Department is to deliver holistic, efficient and competent quality patient care.

We are accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland as a Student Nursing training site with Institute of Technology Tralee for the BSc. Nursing degree, supported by the Clinical Placement Coordinator and link lecturers. We promote and support nurse practice development to ensure the nursing service is up to date with national and international best practice guidelines relating to patient care. We provide in- service education and courses in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland standards.

  • All our wards and departments are supported by the Clinical Nurse Managers.
  • All our Nurses are on the active Nurse registrar as maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
  • Our Specialist nurses have undertaken advanced training.
