Professor Dubhfeasa Slattery is the first professor and chair of medical professionalism nationally . She works between the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI), the Bon Secours Health System (BSHS) and Temple St., Children’s University Hospital. She will present the unique Programme in Professionalism in Healthcare, which she has developed and which spans the continuum of undergraduate and postgraduate education and continuous professional development. This is currently being implemented between the BSHS and the RCSI. A component of this programme was the recent inaugural, national conference on Professionalism, entitled “Professionalism:why it matters for a Patient Safety, Quality and Risk” held at RCSI where 450 delegates registered and multiple international speakers presented their work including the world expert on Professionalism, Prof Jo Shapiro from Harvard.
