Statement issued by the Private Hospitals Association

Statement issued by the Private Hospitals Association on behalf of all its members of which Bon Secours is one.

In line with national public health guidelines issued by NPHET, private hospitals have had to introduce important and necessary additional patient safety measures including new work practices that incorporate social distancing, deep cleaning of facilities and patient screening and testing for Covid.

These are important safety measures that are necessary in order to halt the spread of the virus and they follow the public guidelines.

The Private Hospitals Association consider that any additional costs that may be incurred by individual private patients as a result of these new measures, should in principle be absorbed by the health insurers, and its members are currently in discussion with the respective insurers to that end.

Any patient attending for a medical appointment or any form of treatment must be screened for Covid-19 - however not all will require testing. The precise screening and testing arrangements are a matter for each hospital.
