Mr. Emmet Cullen, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon, is due to commence practice at the Bon Secours Hospital Galway

 

We are very pleased to announce that Mr Emmet Cullen has commenced practice at the Bon Secours Hospital Galway.

Emmet graduated from UCD in 2002 and went on to complete his basic surgical training through the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Since then, he has continued to be actively involved in evidenced based research, having completed several research projects, book chapters and presented at both National and International meetings.

Emmet has been an invited reviewer for orthopaedic journals for years and has several awards to his name. He has a thesis by honours in healthcare informatics at UCD (2009) and went on to be awarded a doctorate of medicine from NUIG, the Department of Orthopaedics and the Regenerative Medicine Institute here in Galway in 2012. 

In 2011, Emmet entered the higher surgical training programme in trauma and orthopaedics. He was awarded the FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery with RCSI in November 2016, completed his HST in T&O in 2017 and then an arthroplasty/sarcoma fellowship with the NHS in St. Albans and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospitals in Stanmore. Emmet has been working as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Galway University and Merlin Park Hospitals since returning from fellowship in 2018. He is currently working as part of the orthopaedic surgical service here as contracted to by the HSE and will move into full time private practice thereafter. He is currently taking referrals for consultations with his elective surgical practice.
