Bon Secours Hospital Tralee is delighted to support the Kerry U14 Ladies' Team

Our story starts back in early July 2019 when the Kerry U14 management set up a development squad for U13 girls who would be eligible to play under 14 in 2020.

The squad consisted of over 130 girls. They trained every Saturday in Tralee splitting the county into North Kerry and South Kerry. The first outing was a blitz with the Dublin and Limerick u14 teams in Kilmallock on the 10th of August 2019. Five Kerry teams travelled that day. It was a very successful and enjoyable day. 

The next was the Munster blitz in CIT in Cork city on 31.08.19. The girls played all the Munster teams that day which was a great opportunity.  We continued our training until trials began in October. 
When the final panel of girls was selected to play u14 for Kerry 2020 training commenced on the 16th of November. Over the next 3 months we played a number of challenge games against Galway, Tipperary, Waterford and U16 Kerry club teams.

The panel travelled to Roscommon on 11.01.20 to play a strong Roscommon team in Dr Hyde park in January. It was a great game. Roscommon management treated the Kerry girls to a meal followed by bowling after the game. Round 1 of the Munster championship was held in UL sports campus on 22.02.2020. We played Limerick in the first game  winning 5:15 to 0:0. We played Clare in the second game winning 5:4 to 1:4. 

Unfortunately for us the Corona virus hit a few weeks later. The girls to their credit remained upbeat and took on training programmes at home.  What's App videos and Tic Tocs also became part of the fun during this time. 

The girls resumed training on the 14th of September to prepare for the Munster A final against Cork. The game was fixed to be played on the 17th of October but unfortunately it has been cancelled.
