Art Therapy at the Care Village

The was made at the Art Therapy Programme that takes place every Wednesday evening with Aideen Cooney at the Bon Secours Care Village.  This image is a group piece that the residents took ownership of and decided to hand on public display for other residents and staff to enjoy.

Aideen got feedback from the residents when the mural was completed.

"I was never interested in painting before and when I started the class I liked it.  When you get doing something it gets interesting and you come back together and find something new.  I think it was a great accomplishment to get this done".

"It passes time when you're doing art. Sometimes you don't feel the pain as much".

"It distracts from physical pain and makes you feel better. I've always liked painting. It gives me pleasure.  When you see the finished piece it feels fantastic to know you've taken part in this together".

"I find it interesting and I enjoy it".

"It was a lovely experience, doing the art piece".

"I'm not a painter at all but I enjoy it".

"I like the blue butterfly, I love butterflies.  They go from tree to tree in the summertime and I like the way the robins do too, they're always chirping. It gives me a great feeling".

Well done to all involved, it is a great accomplishment.
